David G. Scott founded DGS Investigations Inc. in 1999, to offer fire and explosion investigation and consulting services to private-sector clients in Northern Ontario and neighboring regions. With a background spanning 15 years at the Ontario Office of the Fire Marshal, where he held roles such as Fire Investigator, Supervisor of Fire Investigation Services, and A/Unit Manager in Fire Investigations and Forensic Engineering Services, he brings extensive expertise. Prior to this, he served for a decade as a police officer with the Ontario Provincial Police and spent five years as a property assessor with the Ontario Ministry of Revenue. David holds certifications as a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI), Certified Fire Investigation Instructor (CFII), Canadian Certified Fire Investigator - Level C (CCFI-C), Certified Fire Marshal Investigator (CFMI), and is a Member of the Institute of Municipal Assessors (MIMA).


Ryan Scott, the current President and CEO, joined the company in 2009, bringing with him expertise as a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator. Ryan's professional background lies in Electronic Engineering Technology, encompassing over a decade of experience as a radio communications and automotive electronics technician. He also boasts a decade of involvement in the fire protection industry, serving as a technician and service manager. In this capacity, he specialized in maintaining fire alarms, suppression systems, sprinkler systems, fire extinguishers, high-pressure cylinder re-qualification, and conducting customer training. Ryan holds certifications as a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI), Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator (CVFI), Certified Fire Investigation Instructor (CFII), Canadian Certified Fire Investigator - Level C (CCFI-C), and is a WETT certified SITE-Basic Inspector.
